Finding YOUR Perfect Squat

The squat is one of the most basic movements there is when looking at how humans move. Without even knowing it we squat many times throughout the day, for example sitting down, picking something up, getting into the car, going to the bathroom, or even getting off the ground after lying down. These reps all add up. We can either be practicing a good squat with great mechanics or we can be sloppy in our movements and reinforcing bad habits. Every day is an opportunity to practice. 

Recently we sent an article explaining an injury that I actually endured and the onset of that injury was a poor squat. Because we are all so different and our ranges of motion vary drastically there is no golden rules to perfect form in a squat. There is a “Perfect” squat that can be found for each individual to make that movement as efficient as possible, but there can't be absolutes across everyBODY. Let's take a look at what we can change in a squat.

These are just a few things that go into creating a better squat. There is much more that can be changed if you feel your squat can improve, but these are the easy fixes. Find and practice your optimal squatting pattern. Practice with every opportunity you get and it will become second nature! Ask a coach or reach out if you need help with this. HAPPY SQUATTING
